“ The 1980s. More than 40 years have passed since that era. The buildings and shops that once stood along the streets, the cars that came and went, and the people who lived there have all continued to change, transforming into a different landscape as the times have evolved.
For us, who were children back then, most of the adults we saw were businessmen known as 'salarymen'.
They represented a culture that could almost be described as uniquely Japanese at the time, and they were the people who supported Japan’s rapidly growing economy.
Dressed in what could be considered a uniform - white shirts, ties, slacks, jackets, and leather shoes.
They carried themselves with a sense of vivid inspiration and determination.
Looking at their backs, I remember feeling that they embodied the belief that Japan itself was going to create a new era.
With respect for that period, SSZ and WTAPS have created this collection inspired by the uniforms worn by those 'salarymen'.”

As an additional collection for the Fall/Winter 2026 season, WTAPS presents its second collaborative collection with SSZ, a brand that expresses the clothes and style they want to wear through surfing and skateboarding, alongside music, art, and messages.
Drawing inspiration from the “soul of the good old Japanese businessman,” the collection consists of seven styles.
An ombré check shirt featuring a silhouette based on the classic dress shirt, along with straight-cut slacks, forms the foundation of a nostalgic look.
Accessories such as gathered loafers and a clip belt serve as distinctive accents on their own.
Combined with a silhouette that tucks the top into the bottoms, they embody a sense of freedom that moves fluidly between formal and casual, while retaining a distinctly retro character.
